Today I went to the gym and it was the first time in… oh, I don’t really know! You might be scratching your head and thinking “if she’s a health coach, why isn’t she going to the gym or working out regularly?”. Gosh, there are so many things I want to say about this and I will later. But right now I just want to encourage you to take that first step – whatever it may be, just take it. If you’re reading this and don’t know how or where to start, then take some time for yourself, get quiet and brainstorm all the things you can do to move forward and pick the one activity that feels good. Try on each idea and see how it feels. If it feels good and not too scary, then what do you have to do to make it happen?
In regards to my situation, I’ve had so much pain with migraines and muscle pains that I’ve been living in fear when it comes to exercise. I used to love to just “kill it” in the gym, but when I figured out I wasn’t recovering well afterward, I had to back off. Unfortunately, I stopped working out and I wish I would have just taken it slow and done what I was capable of. So that’s what I’m doing now. I made a list of the things I enjoy and I’m starting with what feels good and not too scary. Right now, that is walking. One foot in front of the other. And as my shirt states: “THE ONLY WAY TO FINISH IS TO START.”
Take that first step and be well 🙂
