Is there anything else as stressful as travel? I mean, it’s supposed to be enjoyable, and it should be. After all, other than emergencies, you don’t really travel unless you want to. So since it’s something you GET to do (as opposed to HAVE to do), it’s crazy that it stresses us out so much.

Travel really can be a pain–especially when it comes to fitness.

If you’re anything like me, FIRST you stress out about trying to get in shape for wherever you’re going. THEN you have to worry about trying to stay in shape while you’re there!

Put bluntly, very few things mess with your fitness progress like a bout of travel. And it makes sense: you’re on the road, away from your home, your gym, and your regular schedule. You miss workouts. You eat food you shouldn’t. And because you don’t prepare it, you can’t even measure calories and macros.

And all of that is hard.

BUT, if we’re honest, a big part of the reason we mess up when we travel is – we get lazy. We fall into VACATION MODE. God, trust me, I’ve been there.

So there are really two sets of factors at work: the external ones (schedule, food, gym access) and the internal. Dealing with them requires two very different strategies.
